Klubnacht

Influenced by the Detroit techno of Robert Hood and Kenny Larkin, Amsterdam-based Shelter residents Children of Valis defy rigid genre categorization. Named after the Roman name for the river Waal, the duo cultivates a sonic understatement that relies more on rhythmic textures than on peak-time effects. As part of the Amsterdam collective VBX, they represent a specific aesthetic: a stripped-down, driving minimal house sound with a strong focus on groove and sub-bass. Children of Valis will be playing at Panorama Bar for the first time at this edition of Klubnacht. US American DJ/producer Jovonn embodies the raw elegance of the New York house sound. Since first releasing in the early 90s, the Brooklyn native has developed an aesthetic that blends garage roots with deep, often jazzy undertones and a distinctive, gritty production style. As the founder of labels like Goldtone and Body ‘N Deep, he has also contributed to the legacy of a timeless house sound. Canadian producer and drummer Merlin Eltore aka SORCERY, known for interweaving acoustic percussion and electronic synthesis, will be playing at Berghain.
