Over the past decade, Berlin-based Arthur Robert has established himself as a meticulous producer with a modern, functional techno aesthetic. His releases on labels such as Figure, hereandthere and Hayes stand out for their remarkable sonic purity and a penchant for complex, syncopated rhythms. Robert does away with gimmicky moments, opting instead for a hypnotic layering of textures. His sets reflect this attention to detail: an uncompromising yet elegant forward momentum blends the tradition of loop techno with a contemporary, crystalline sound aesthetic. Robert will be performing live at Berghain for this edition of Klubnacht. Jump Source, the project of Montreal-based producers Patrick Holland and Francis Latreille (Priori), marks a return to collaborative studio improvisation. On NAFF, the label Latreille co-founded, they cultivate an aesthetic that fluctuates between dubby house, ambient structures, lively synth sequences and precise sound design. Following six maxis, their debut album Fold dropped last month, building on the boom of electronic artist albums from the 00s, injecting a healthy dose of indie-pop sensibility and folktronica references into their productions.
