Life From Earth is always good for a surprise. Accordingly, tonight's lineup reads like a deliberate deconstruction of genre-typical expectations, a sharp clash of pop affinity and bass-heavy energy. At Berghain, Skream moves beyond his dubstep past as an eclectic artist interpreting techno through the lens of British rave history. ISOxo, closely linked to the 88rising scene, brings a heavy, trap-informed dynamic to the dancefloor that stands out with its almost cinematic sound design. At Panorama Bar, Job Jobse is the master of the collective moment, his style shaped by a deep knowledge of trance and house history. He is flanked by Courtesy, who bridges the gap between high-speed techno and an almost crystalline sonic clarity with her label Against Interpretation. Tiga from Canada brings his cool, often ironic take on electro-clash, while the presence of Klaxons founder Jamie Reynolds and Los Angeles-based singer and Grammy-winner Kim Petras widen the scope to include British nu-rave energy and polished hyper-pop aesthetics. The Säule offers a physical counterpoint: under the aegis of Nia Archives, the Up Ya Archives showcase celebrates the renaissance of jungle and breakbeat as an earthy contrast to the euphoria of the floors upstairs.
