Sound Metaphors

Tonight's party kicks off early with two concerts on the main floor. As Dopplereffekt, Rudolf Klorzeiger and To Nhan Le Thi create a musical reflection on physics, biology and the cold aesthetics of the laboratory. It's Detroit electro that has translated every bit of funk into a mathematical equation: detached, precise and remarkably timeless in its relevance. The Sabres of Paradise are inextricably linked to the legacy of the late Andrew Weatherall, where you can hear the transition from post-punk attitude to British acid house and dub experimentation. From 23:00, the event goes into party mode on both floors. Adrian Sherwood and Dennis Bovell, two legendary architects of the British dub sound, will be playing at Panorama Bar. Sherwood, the mastermind behind On-U Sound, took dub apart and reassembled it with industrial harshness and punk energy. Bovell, on the other hand, is a central figure in lovers rock (a romantic reggae variant that emerged in mid-70s UK), bringing a musicality that goes far beyond simply mixing rhythms. Brotherly duo Chaos In The CBD is defined by an almost nostalgic love of classic deep house, enriched by the use of live instrumentation and jazzy textures. Jakarta and Singapore-based producer Jonathan Kusuma, co-founder of labels such as Akamady Records, works at the intersection of dry EBM, hypnotic techno and the darker shades of house. At Berghain, DJ Stingray 313 plays his razor-sharp selection of speedy electro and techno. Munich-based DJ/producer Skee Mask has also carved out a special niche for himself by masterfully weaving together IDM structures, breakbeats and techno.
