Against Interpretation Club

Once again, Courtsey’s Against Interpretation club night centres on artists who view the dancefloor as a space for sonic deconstruction. Broodoo Ramses, for instance, operates at the intersection of hardcore continuity and decolonial sound design. His sets are less a linear flow and more a rhythmic form of confrontational therapy in which Baile Funk fragments collide with Jersey Club, vogueing beats and industrial harshness. FAUZIA brings a similar urge to accelerate, albeit with a different slant. The London-based artist has broken free from the foundations of footwork and jungle to develop her own formal language that uses speed as an emotional vehicle. Her productions and DJ sets are marked by an aesthetic that channels the euphoria of the old rave days into a contemporary form. Rounding out the lineup is Belgian Berliner DJ Eline, resident at Antwerp’s Klub Dramatik Festival.
