Italorama Bar

This month, the Italorama Bar is hosting a live performance by N.O.I.A. Behind this acronym lies a central pioneer of early Italian wave and disco culture. Founded in Cervia in the late 70s, the group won the first Italian Rock Festival Contest in 1980 and subsequently evolved into a style-defining studio trio. Through releases on Italian Records between 1983 and 1985, with tracks like “Looking for Love,” they provided an essential blueprint for the repetitive, slightly detached synthesizer aesthetic that would later define the genre. Their current live set draws from precisely this historical repertoire: mechanical beats, dry basslines and a dash of Italo melancholy. The lineup also features DJ sets by Italorama residents Luca Venezia (aka Curses) and The Hague’s Intergalactic Gary. Part of the legendary CBS circle led by I-F, the latter has been DJing since 1980, bringing a deep understanding of music to the table.
