The second part of Sound Metaphors' tenth anniversary welcomes a pioneering architect of deep Chicago house. As a teen, Ron Trent released an absolute classic with “Altered States”, and in 1994 he and Chez Damier founded Prescription, a label that set standards in deep house with its organic, electronic sound and emotional depth. After moving to New York, Trent became a key figure in the local club scene with residencies at Body & Soul and Vinyl, developing a cosmopolitan, almost luxurious sound that combines house with jazz-funk, neo-soul and Afro beats. Over the past 30 years, Trent has continuously released music, worked with artists such as Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Tony Allen and 4hero and challenged himself stylistically time and again. In May, Rush Hour is releasing his new two-part album Lift Off, the perfect occasion after a five-year hiatus to embark on an international tour, playing at Panorama Bar for the first time in ten years.
